Phil joined us in 2003 with a strong background as a Software Engineer, experienced in C and C++, but with little exposure to our core disciplines of XML-based and internet-facing applications. He has proved to be a pretty quick learner, however, and has since excelled with XForms, XSLT, C# and JavaScript, while continuing to develop and utilise the skill set that he brought with him.

Phil initially worked on the development team for the formsPlayer XForms processor, where he made significant contributions to the reliability and completeness of the implementation.

In the summer of 2005, Phil's focus shifted to our Sidewinder project. In his new role as the lead developer of Sidewinder, Phil was responsible for the evolution of Sidewinder from a simple XHTML viewer into a far more powerful application framework. He also prepared much of the source code for porting to non-Windows platforms, by migrating the user interface to wxWidgets and removing the reliance upon Microsoft APIs.

At various points throughout his time with us, Phil has also operated in a more customer-oriented fashion, providing specialised C# and XForms consultancy for enterprise clients in the fields of IT, finance and local government.
