Support

in

webBackplane provides support for the applications that it helps you build, but it also provides support and enterprise builds for a number of open source tools and components.

Enterprise Builds and Open Source

in

Our experience in development goes far beyond the building of web sites and web applications. webBackplane provide enterprise builds and support for a number of open source applications, and some of our team members are key contributers to a variety of open source projects. In addition, Paul Butcher is the lead developer on the formsPlayer XForms processor, and Phil Booth plays the same role for the Sidewinder Web Applications Viewer.

Implementation

in

We can advise you on how best to architect a project, and we can get your team up to speed on a technology in order that you can implement it yourself. But if you don't have the time—you need to get your Web 2.0 idea to market fast—or the resources—your IT department has enough to do already—then you can also employ one or more of the webBackplane team to help build your application.

Training

in

webBackplane can provide bespoke training on many of the technologies we use, and through Applied XForms, we also offer specific courses on XForms which have been used by companies such as ABB and IBM.

Consultancy

in

We've advised customers on many different aspects of the creation of web applications, and we'd be happy to advise you too. In some cases this has involved addressing the standards that a particular user community might need, such as the IPTC's NewsML language, or CASRAI's standards-based XRX stack. In other cases we've suggested how to structure a project so as to get the best out of a technology, or worked on more specific areas such as using XForms to create usable and maintainable user interfaces.

If you're interested in any aspect of XForms, the latest in user-interface technologies, then please contact us.

Hosting and management

in

We use EC2 to host our servers (and RightScale to manage them), since the combination gives us the flexibility to launch new servers as and when we need them. It also means that we can fine-tune the configuration of a server template, giving us the flexibility to launch different kinds of servers as necessary.
